Not clear whether the security detail believe cycling in London is inherently too dangerous or whether it would just be too easy to pass off political assassination as "the sun was in my eyes".

    Hard Cheese!

If he wants to cycle he should take a more low profile job.

Johnson was ordered to give up cycling

He's one of the three most powerful politicians in the country. Exactly what are the police going to do if he keeps cycling? Tell his mum? Shoot him dead?

Not let him cycle through the gates of Downing St. Oops, sorry, that was another Tory politician...

    "Hard Cheese!"

Hard Brexit, surely? Or Hard Biscuits as it's become known in some circles.

Credit where it's due - he has been a doughty supporter of cycling.

The new guy, Sadiq Khan seems to be less enthusiastic.

Even as the latest vigil mourns the most recent cyclist to die it looks like there’s a campaign to roll back the advances London has made in cycling and reclaim road space for cars.

Right-wing tabloids tell us no one uses the new segregated superhighways. Hampstead nimbies say they “cause pollution”. And last month, to “tackle congestion”, the London Chamber of Commerce openly called for them to be ripped up.
