    Coming soon (tram)

    Public Consultation

.20 To allow a Strategic Business Case to be developed, a consultation that builds on the findings from the CMP is proposed to take place in spring 2024 for a 12-week period. The consultation will show the recommended route across the four sections (Granton - City Centre; through the City Centre; City Centre - Bioquarter; and Bioquarter and beyond into the city region) and detail why it has been chosen. It will also give indicative locations for tram stops along the route. In addition, it will include details of the alternate routes that have been explored and the reasons why these have been discounted. Full details on route alignments on the four sections can be found in Appendix 2.

.21 Consultees will be asked to respond to a series of multiple-choice questions and will have the opportunity to give fuller answers via a free-text box. The consultation will be hosted on the Council's Consultation Hub and a series of public drop-in events will take place during the consultation period. Details of the consultation and associated communications plan are attached in Appendix 3.

People are being asked for their views on proposals to enhance the area to the front of Shrewsbury railway station, including improvements to walking and cycling.

Dan Morris, Shropshire Council’s cabinet member for highways, said: “The Station Gyratory public space and active travel improvements are an important part of the overall shared vision for the future of Shrewsbury town centre and I’m delighted that we have secured LUF2 funding for this work. Now we really want to hear people’s views on our proposals.

Ministers are to consult on doubling the legal wattage of electric bike motors, despite concerns over road safety and the risk of deadly fires caused by batteries.

The Department for Transport will launch the consultation on Thursday, the Guardian understands, which will propose changing the maximum allowable power of an e-bike motor from 250w to 500w.

    “Road safety”?

It was an art installation! A part of that was about safer streets and reducing road danger at source. But definitely not traditional “road safety “ aka victim blaming

Uninsured drivers can claim up to £5,000 for personal injury, rising to a total of £10,000 for all losses related to the accident. Guy Opperman MP, Minister for Roads and Local Transport, said: "I am delighted to announce the launch of a consultation on this element of the government’s Plan for Drivers, published on 2 October 2023. This focuses on fairer insurance claims, seeking views on removing the right of uninsured drivers to claim compensation for property damage.
