Anyone else thinking of going through for it?

CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

I've been given a pass-out for it, so I'm up for it if there is enough momentum from this side...
If feasible, I will. Afraid I don't know Glasgow at all well - how are people planning on getting there?
I was going to go but working on Sunday
Train to Milngavie and short ride to the sport centre meeting point
Lots of space for bikes on the Milngavie trains.

Active Travel Summit I announced Taskforce examine how we can introduce a presumption towards segregated cycle paths in planning guidelines
"
I'm hoping to come along to this.
Segregated cycle paths don't need planning permission. Unless the Traffic Regulation Order process is changed to allow segregated cycle lanes to be developed without the need for a TRO (as currently happens with bus stop clearways) then this is just waffle.
The optimistic reading, I think, is that there will be a presumption that new roads and redeveloped ones should have segregated infrastructure designed in.
New developments seem to be trending towards wide shared use paths with grass verges already. They're poorly used as the junction design is give way, give way, give way, give way.
Aiming for the half eleven train from Waverley - then going to cycle to Bearsden, either along the canal/Maryhill Road or Balmore Road.
@Frenchy
Did you mean take the train to Queen St.? If so, a possible route could be:
http://cycle.travel/map/journey/30876
What do the others think?
Aye, train to Queen St. Looks good - taking
I was planning on taking the main road as I thought I'd be tight for time, but now I think we'll be all right - especially if anyone knows where they're going...
If cycling all the way from town I'd rather an extra 15 minutes 'getting lost' allowance
Earlier trains are available, and possibly sensible, I just can't be on them.
This may appeal to those heading West on Sunday...
Frenchy, I'll join you on the 11.30. Do you have a spot you like to meet?
Probably on the platform, to be honest; I might not get to Waverley till 11:20ish.
Look for the Maroon Revolution Audax. Anyone else joining us?
I have a black and orange sit up and beg, you'll not miss it :)
I will also bring an extra securing strap to appease fussy guards.
Afraid I'm going to have to bail out.
Sorry.
TODAY!
See you all on the 11.30 train or at the meeting point at 1.15
Different train all the way to Milngavie possible if you haven't the stamina to cycle from the city
I'll be riding back into Glasgow after the first two legs rather than returning to Milngavie with the group.
Enjoy.
Hope you'll take some photos.
Looks like there was a good turnout

Fantastic turnout. Shows that the nationalist councillors in east dunbarton were mislead by a few highly vocal objectors. On man had objecting letters in the local newspaper 8 weeks in a row! No rational person thinking to the future would object to cycle lanes, so why did they vote against it? Simple, council elections next year. They thought they could garner more votes in this closely fought district. Looks like their plan could backfire.

Life's little ironies are quite something, aren't they?
Great ride. The existing path surprised me in its shortness but was in a very useful spot over a slow climb in both directions. Sensible compromises have been made at bus stops, some fully floating and some ''Cycling by design'' blue paint at quieter stops.
The roads in the area are very wide (with quick traffic) and the existing way was certainly causing zero issues!
Met with travel buddy Frenchy, spoke at length with Cycling UK's eastern rep Esmond and just before shooting off Arrelcat introduced herself! I later spotted her again from the canal and shouted (she was down on the road) but no counter spot was made.
Special shoutouts to Hank_chief for the cycling ticket after, it was fab! Really worrying crash in the madison but after some time both grounded riders got back on it. I was counting on a stretcher, poor guy got a full pace bike in the back :/
