Yesterday at 6.30a.m. I opened the curtains to sunrise in the east, today it is pitch black. On coming down the stairs I found it chilly and put the heating on. Darker, colder, bike lights on in the mornings and on the way home. Might not wear my shorts today.

I thought today was warmer than yesterday...

Kind of regretting putting a sleeved top on again.

Are you in someone else's house?

Also noticed that someone has been going round taking the leaves off the trees,

Was warmer today but cold coming into the wind just there. Sometimes my house has a temperature inversion colder on the inside (TICOTHI).

    Still in shorts.

Hit some frost on back road the other morning and came a cropper. Have some nice road rash on the leg to prove it. Definitely colder. I have noticed it is several degrees cooler in Stow than Edinburgh on most mornings.

nobrakes, sorry to hear about your tumble, and hope you recover quickly.

Ice has formed this morning so take care in shaded areas everyone.

    Cheers

My front wheel skidded very gently whilst going in a straight line very slowly on the WoL east of Newhaven Road last night. Suspected twig amongst the thick carpet of leaf-sog.

It looked like it was near ice but not quite, on some parts of road past quary towards kirknewton this morning, is it time for ice tyres to be used?

Yikes, that turned around quickly... Looks like it will hopefully stay dry before dropping below zero at least.

I moan about the clocks going back but at least it gives the ice a chance to melt before I leave for work. So only wet, no ice so far.

    nobrakes, is your bike OK?

That's the important thing. I was able to assuage the fears of a guy lying on the road in Weymouth during the summer because I could tell him his bike was OK. The assembled police and ambulance services had missed out on that vital piece of information.

Might put winter tyres on soon. I have a nice new chalet to store bikes and do things in. This was the second coat of stain last week. Needs a clear coat and roof tiles but it's already water tight.

My wife has just bought me glove liners - they'll be used soon I think.

Still be wearing my shorts though :)

@wee folding bike, yes it was fine thanks. Its a lowracer recumbent so your thigh takes the brunt and the edge of the seat gets most of the rest. A great design that protects the bike really well.

+1 on the man cave approval!

I've not been told the bill but it better not be five grand. I could get more bikes with that kind of cash.

I never get told what the bill is.

It also has old computers, tents, chest freezer and pot noodles in it. Also gave me an excuse for the boiler suit.

Have finally abandoned the shorts for tights this week. Last night's cycle home felt positively luxurious!

I've also had my first couple of seasonal tumbles last week. Front wheel sank into an unexpected quagmire while skipping a kerb - cue a ground-interrupted front somersault. And the following day slipped on wet leaves and ended up in the ditch. Luckily all soft landings!
