I know there's a thread somewhere lamenting the closure of all the DIY stores in Edinburgh but I can't find it.

Screwfix have opened a new shop on Roseburn Street, between the bowling club and JB Maclean. Seems to have a decent range of stuff and can also be a collection place if ordered online.

Does seem a strange location to open a new shop as it's not far from the existing one in Sighthill. Also nearly a direct road between them.

Maybe they've heard about the popularity of Roseburn with white van men loading essential supplies from cafes.

Didn't know it was new - I used it last Friday night to pick up some M5 hex bolts - I'd lost those that attach my mudguards (that time of year). Inevitably, I found the old ones when I tipped out my big bag of allen keys...

Open to 8pm weekday evenings - it was slightly surreal being in a hardware store with loads of rugby fans coming past!

Any foray of DIY stores back into the centre of town is good news for the car-less
