    Couple of video links.
First one is part of a BBC series looking at Grand Tours of Scotland.

    Touring on a Victorian tricycle

Later on there's more biking in the Lairig Ghru with champion mountain biker Lee Craigie keeping her temper as he tries to make it to Glenmore lodge.

Also this link from a Shetlandic customer... son has ridden route of IMA video. Lairig Ghru's better though;-)

Re: the victorian, tricycle guy, what a wuss, no way did he ride the trike more than it took to get some tracking shots... I have never seen anyone look so ungainly on a bike either. Is his accent real?

I am just jealous cos i want to be on TV :)

He did get a bit of a panning in the Scotsman for his mock Morningside...

Is his accent real? Is Kirsty Wark's accent real? Billy Connolly has an odd accent too come to think of it.
    This is showbiz ;-)

At moment as we have two Sunday night programmes going round Scotland with Scottish presenters. Normally only 2% of TV comes from around here so questions should be asked about this massive overdose of stunning Caledonia!

I'm not sure if both are available elsewhere though.

The Making of Scotland's Landscape with Ian Stewart has a more downbeat tone that befits a more heavyweight programme. Some might not like it but he does know his stuff. Tone is:
'Scotland has been in decline for millenia and now things could get worse if we don't change our ways...'

Personally I thought his look at water was superb and threw up the ownwership of natural resources.

Paul Murton is qualified too - but he does ham it up maybe a bit too much.

The trike though was very interesting with it's crank drive. Nice big tractor saddle. Would tip over quite easily though!

    no panniers either...

The cycling Colonel must have had the deluxe model with Ortliebs.
The picture on his book had a trike with two giant wheels and a tiny back one. So a sudden stop could be lethal.

    Tonight's episode

    "
Season 1. Episode 5 of 5. The Climate. Iain Stewart explores how the practices of Scottish scientists and engineers during the Industrial Revolution contributed to climate change, and learns how the country's economy is now becoming more reliant on environmentally friendly technologies. Last in the series

Yes... wasn't as good as the one with Loch Katrine in it.

Sort of 'off topic' but related...
Edinburgh based Cairn Energy and its search for oil off the coast of Greenland. (They've sold their interests in India to raise £6billion to cover this).
GREENLAND DRILLING - HALF HOUR RADIO

The political implications are huge - currently Greenland gets a block grant from Denmark. If Cairn are successful Greenland will go for self government.
But how would they handle an oil spill in the ice? I found it a very informative half hour listen.
