Just a heads up for those that commute from SQ or Fife. Possible oil spill at the junction of Scotstoun Ave and B907. My back wheel kicked out but I managed to keep it upright and have just seen a fellow commuter post on Strava that he came off at exactly the same junction.

Anyone know who best to report that to?

I was in the car today and saw him fall.
Lots of work going on round there with the bus lane installation, added to the buses and construction traffic.
I thought he'd maybe caught the tar joint as he turned in, roads were pretty damp too.
Hope the rider & bike didn't suffer too much damage

Thanks both, he's fine. It's not the first time I've nearly lost a wheel there, it's not a great turn.

Not good. I decided to go via Kirkliston today and sounds like I got lucky. Don't like that turn very much either, especially if cars follow you on the roundabout.

I think DaveC had a spill in that area a year or two back. Not sure if it was related. I know there were a couple of people on here who fell off at the Tesco roundabout last year due to a greasy surface.

Wonder if it is better approaching Scotstoun via Viewforth- at least it is a left turn onto Scotstoun.

probably the only reason I stayed upright was that I was turning into Scotstoun Av from a stationary starting position...if I had been turning in as I was moving then I reckon I'd have gone down too.

Anyone worked out 'why', or contacted anyone?

Likely from a grim construction vehicle @ the agilent housing development. They come and go along there continuously, don't they.

@chdot - I took your advice and notified West Team. Feedback from other riders last night suggests the area had been sanded/gritted/salted (words used by other to describe the remedy). I came home via Station Road so didn't see it. If that was a reaction to my tweet I'm impressed they dealt with it so quickly.

It certainly looked like it to me this morning. I had forgotten the warning until I saw the sand so thankfully didn't get reminded by an encounter with tarmac.

A fresh warning that there is possible petrochemical products on Scotstoun Ave again after 2 cars were written off yesterday morning. It around the entrance to Scotstoun park where there is a large patch of sand on the road.
