    Not in charge of the doors on a single operator train for a start.

    Anyone who gets doored undertaking a train has only themselves to blame.

    @jdanielp It's traditional to mock any politician whose name is a fish with fish-based jokes, not clever inversions of the OP's clear intention.

    @stiltskin

    jdanielp is a dab hand at fish jokes, wels versed in piscine humour, never flounders for an aquatic pun, rarely the halibut of the jokes, eel mullet over and join in soon etc etc etc...

    I thought that we might be at risk of going over quota in the scale of our use of stock fish puns following the net discussion of salmoning and shoaling recently in "Today's Rubbish Cycling" and, more generally, that the joke might be starting to wear fin. I will find the dorsal myself...

  11. In other plaices, you could get battered for puns like these

    Can we make title clear that this does not involve Humza Yousaf? ;-)
    MSM would love such a story to finish the year off.

    To return to the topic; this is the problem with cycle lanes that are not continuous; where the incident happened the lane had finished and not restarted, so they are all in the wrong (including the driver who wasn't in the gutter, where we know we should all be driving/cycling).

    Sorry, cant think of a fish pun (and I didn't know a Grayling was a fish, is that my learning for the day).

    Yes indeed, back on topic. Looks like the Sec of State for Transport (not the Transport Minister) could be in hot water;

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/dec/16/chris-grayling-could-face-private-prosecution-for-dooring-cyclist

    which will be uncomfortable as grayling are usually found in cold, clean-running riverine habitats.

    "

    A regulation under section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, which designates criminal motoring offences, states: “No person shall open, or cause or permit to be opened, any door of a vehicle on a road so as to injure or endanger any person.”

    "

    That's worth knowing.
