Revisiting the "Santa" thread, I boldly stated I had reached "peak bike kit". However, January has barely got off the starter's blocks and I have purchased a bike accessory.....so clearly my prior statement was untrue.

Today I bought a Thule Internal Hub Hitch Adapter, which allows extra axle length to be achieved, the better to hitch my Carry Freedom trailer to the SRAM P5 equipped Pashley Fold-It.

Once it arrives in the post, this stainless steel widget should hopefully make my Fold-It into a handy train and long distance coach friendly touring steed.

Please feel free to share your new bike kit purchases below!

I think you may have missed out a category in your poll. Surely there should be an option for "inability to persuade significant other of need for this extra kit"

The hitch adapter looks useful, but 23 euros for a glorified nut & bolt...?

"23 euros for a glorified nut & bolt...?"

Well there are issues hauling a trailer for any bike with hub gears, as I have discovered. Principally these relate to insufficient axle protruding from the dropouts. You can fit the hitch, but the axle end nut either does not engage due to insufficient thread, or it cannot be tightened sufficiently to hold the axle firmly in place.

Burley do a similar (slightly cheaper) adapter, but SRAM Spectro hub axles have a proprietary thread of 10.5 x 26tpi, and none of the Burley adapters fit. There are different axle diameters and thread pitches for Shimano, SRAM 9-Motion, and Sturmey Archer hubs.

Is this just about kit or does it include bikes too?

Access to bike to work scheme plus hitting my commuting target last year plus recent significant birthday could mean an unnecessarily expensive new bike this year.

On the downside, new bike to work scheme is through Evans so choice is somewhat limited. The intersection of the sets "bikes they have" and "bikes I want" has a cardinality of one.

@urchaidh, I believe there is an n+1 thread somewhere for new bikes. I just thought it may be handy to have a bike kit thread separate from that. Maybe k+1?

Certainly better than zero. And arguably better than 100.

I maybe bought a new ANT enabled computer and speed sensor today by mistake...

(All Mrs B needs to know is that I thought I had pressed back instead of proceed. It wasn't until I go the conformation email that I realised my mistake).

Well it's only really the speed sensor that will only be used inside, so £26 not that ott.

Erm, buying a Brooks saddle for an indoor bike might be considered ott though... ;)

Brooks saddle would be ideally suited to an inside bike-) the brooks flyer on my hybrid gets saggy every time it rains
