    Pedaling down Innocent through Newcraighall on a daily basis it's depressing to see the amount of existing and daily newly dumped rubbish.

    This week’s highlights include the usual selection of children's’ bikes in Niddrie & Brunstane Burns, a washing machine, black bin bags too numerous to count, a few mattresses, smoldering piles of burnt things etc….

    Seems an ideal candidate for some Community Payback cleanup action.

    Anyone tried or had any success with this ? I've filled in the form on CCE, but surely the more suggestions the better.

    well this is disappointing;

    Hi Iain

    Yes i managed to walk a short length of this path and I did witness an overwhelming amount of fly tipping.

    Unfortunately due to the amount of rubbish involved, the location of the rubbish, the nature of the work, and issues around disposing of the rubbish, i am unable to help with the task of clearing this area. I will today however try to get some information on who has responsibility for the path and its upkeep and ask them to contact you to see if they can help you get this resolved.

    I will keep you informed of my progress.

    Regards

    When I suggested a similar thing in my area they responded that they really wanted tasks which would teach them new skills than just grunt work.

    I do find that reporting flytipping through FixMyStreet does get the job done, even if it does take a few weeks.

    Fair enough. It's not the GULAG after all (yet).

    Community payback folk did a great job building bike/scooter racks and raised beds/planters at my kids' school (carpentry skills). Also cleared an overgrown thorny hedge from the playground and planted some nice flowers and shrubs (gardening skills).

    2 CCE men, a van and a pile of black bin bags at the bottom of Innocent this morning.

    Not sure if related to my constant badgering of the Community Parks Officers or not.

    They are going to need a lot of bags.

    zero response from the Community Parks Officer. Now trying with the Environmental Wardens.

    this is painful.

    the badgering continues, according to the email i received yesterday from CEC (possibly as a result of my official complaint about no response);

    "I can confirm that the Environmental Wardens have carried out a visit and there was no evidence of fly-tipping"

    I need some of those blinkers / rose-tinted glasses.

    I find a tweet to the relevant neighbourhood team with a picture and a link to the report on fixmystreet works well as a prod.

    Most of the flytipping I report is around the NEPN and it does get cleared up after a couple of weeks.

    I would suggest that Blair and Bush should have to clean the fly tipped rubbish in long Dalmahoy road
