Read that this morning.
It's part of the new politics - say something stupid about something you barely understand and when challenged about it dig your heels in.

Inadvertant candour is actually really useful. I've heard an Edinburgh councillor talk very naturally in much the same vein because he didn't know I was a bicycle extremist.
This might allow us to set the correct tone for PoP for example. Demand the right to be considered as road users or human beings even, because until that's accepted the transport budget demands risk being seen as quite incomprehensible or even inappropriate.

Slogan for PoP
Drivers Don't Do A Grayling?
when is Pop?
I have deliberately not enterd Tour De Lauder this year as last year I forgot it is normally the same day and entered. Happy to give the thirty pounds to their charity but keen not to commit similar mistake (though Tour de Lauder is full - I imagine there will be a reserve list)

I think the good people of the West Midlands can be happy they're policing isn't under central government control. Imagine the conversations with this idiot...

We're still waiting to hear from the council if our application is approved, but you were probably right not to sign up for the Tour de Lauder.

West Midlands Police (who else!) have responded to Failing Grayling:

West Midlands Police & Crime Commissioner rather than the police themselves. He's a directly elected ex-politician.
If only we had him up here, eh? I'd vote for him. Oh, except I can't, as in Scotland we have the unelected, Scottish government appointed Scottish Police Authority in a similar role.
