There's a white van parked on the road outside our flat that was clamped for having no VED some time last year. It has been there for ages. It isn't a huge problem (parking on our street isn't too bad as these things go) but I do think it ought to have been removed by now. Does anyone know
1) how long it has to be left for the owner to do something about it
and
2) who I should complain to about it still being there?

Getting an untaxed vehicle removed

@fimm I would try the police on 101. I rang them about a 'non-local' car that had been parked, and never moved, for months outside my stair. It was currently VEDed but the day it expired, I was about to phone again when a guy turned up with jump leads and moved it. Don't know for sure but police might have contacted him.

It's the cooncil that does it. Had a Czech Citroen removed last year that was parked for three years.

Cheers.
(Google was just giving me information about what I should do if it was my vehicle that had been clamped...)I'll try the cooncil first - which will involve actually making a note of all the details for the webform!

In this case:

it was the police. The deciding factor was whether the vehicle had any part of it on the road surface. If all four wheels are off the road, the council (claim that they) can't touch it. However, if it's even partially on the road, the police will defer to the council.

Thank you.
This one is appropriately parked on the road, so to the council I will go (but I need to note down reg plate and actual kind of van first).Posted 7 years ago # -
Well the answer is, obviously, post about it on CCE and Big Brother will come along and take the thing away.
;-)
It's gone.Posted 7 years ago #
