So while on break visiting George St I came across some signs indicating that cycling is permitted on Street as well as some shared use signs saying to be considerate. Some people surveying the area were confused as to why they were there. Is there a council team to contact on this issue?

You mean there were signs saying that people could cycle on the road? Or that the pavements were actually shared-use?

There were shared-use sections (pedestrian + cyclist) on the road over Christmas, at the end near Charlotte Square, alongside where the Christmas market and big glitzy lights were. They might be left over from that.

If they're made from that plastic cardboardy material used for temporary signs, they will be. They also largely won't make any sense in their current surroundings as the old cycle route was a contraflow I think.
