As anyone who has added details to OSM will know, the aerial views are supplied by Yahoo and are not nearly as clear as Google Maps.
In addition Potlatch 2 the new improved version of OSM editor Potlatch is currently in public beta.
Data from OSM makes cyclestreets.net (plus various iPhone apps) work.
CycleStreets started out as the cycle journey planning web site for Cambridge. Edinburgh was the second main area covered, which was then rapidly expanded to cover the whole of the UK.
CS is currently looking for a (relatively) small sum of money to make this valuable service better and keep up with the increasing number of journeys being planned every day.
CyclingScotland is about to help community groups that have expressed an interest in 'mapping parties'. These will improve OSM details in their area.
