To the Monte
By taking the agu out of the sign. Which I thought clever.
On the Pleasance parallel to the queens hall. It is. A good pub to meet up in if attending gig at queen's hall
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

I used to attend regularly in my first year at University to drink of the Guinness and hang out with my older cousin who enjoyed spending time with the regulars in there. There used to be quite a few characters knocking about in there if I remember rightly.
Is good boozer
It was my local when the Maltings. First pub to have boardgames built into tables, foreshadowing many hipster trends by fifteen years.
Then run down and bought by acquaintances of mine who knew not about the generation of human warmth.
God bless her and all who sail in her.
Used to be The Maltings, IIRC? Had occasion to attend the pub quiz there a number of times as a student.
Spent many an evening in there when it was the Maltings. Had a good friend Graham Spence who was part of the furniture there, died of cancer many years ago. Some of you may remember him - white hair, photo of him behind the bar for many years after he died. A top chap. Was a great pub in those days. Haven't been in it for about 15 years....
Used to go there a lot when it was the Maltings and there was live music. Nice pub.
decent afternoon boozer, but you'd move on to the quarter gill / grapes by 6 to take it up a gear
Ahh The Grapes. Only place I've ever actually seen someone attacking a paramedic, while bleeding, at about 3 in the afternoon.
My eighty year old next door neighbour drinks in the Grapes. I have a standing invitation to join him and his friends. Badge of honour.
The Monte closed about a year ago. Set to become a Civerinos pizza now... Planning App
Haven't decided whether having a pizza place opposite is a good thing or a bad thing.
