Anyone know of one of these as unfortunately the excellent bike shop I use, am very fond of and will continue to use have just broken the one on my bike (it was looking wonkly but working so we were ignoring that)

Bike shops can only get a pair for £165. Wiggle will split but I am hoping bike station or something similar?

Bike Station unlikely. The drawer of good shifters be like smoke and scrap now, but you could telephone them?

    PM got through and I have replied as follows;

    Dear Gembo,

I shall endeavour to sculpt a new shifter from billet alloy using only hacksaw, file and Dreml.

    Stand by,

    IWRATS

Worth checking GumFleaBay, also classified sections of other cycling forums (yes, they exist, though this is obvs verboten to say so). e.g. YACF, formerlyknownasctc, etc.

@iwrats, it is al I-were-right-about-that-saddle PM ing you.

My reply contained much gibberish on auto correct. Yak's intestines etc.

We had a sandwich competition at work the other day. I won with my home made allisons wholemeal bread, emmental from Scotmid and caramelised red onion chutney. The name of this creation was I were right about that samdwich.

So far so bad. (In my quest for reasonable price for a shifter) Cheapest new is sora 3x9 speed for £132 on wiggle, same shifters look dearer on rose, nowt but campagnolo as a nine speed on chain reaction. All of these will Leave me with a spare left shifter. Why do they do that (only sell pairs) if the right hand side wears out more often? ( as you shift at the back much more frequently than the front)

@Gembo - worth scoping the ads over on Facebook - there's a few groups for cycling buy/sell stuff (if you're not already on them).

Pinkbike might also be worth a look? Less roadie stuff, but I've had a few bargains.

I've an old set of Sora shifters - but they're 8 speed. Any good?

thanks riffian I think 8 spd and 10 spd were on offer to me from Matt at Just Bikes but I am guessing it does need to be 9 spd. Just guessing like - Would have been 2-0 to you if they were viable.

    Cheers

was very jolly cycling to work on my shopping bike this morning, less jolly back up the hill.

Plenty of used 9 speed Sora, Tiagra STRI brifters over on fleaBay. £35 for 3x9 pair fixed price, or bid on an auction maybe get similar for a bit cheaper. Maybe the odd right hand 9 speed on its own, our use one from a 2x9 pair.

Unless you want brand new, in case be prepared to pay the premium...
