3500 mile warmup ride.
Mad. Utterly, absolutely, brilliantly mad.

Sounds awful to me, but good luck to him.

Impressive, but would be even better if he did it cycling one bike whilst pushing another in parallel.
Saw a bearded roadie at abbeyhill about 10a.m. when I was taking roundabout way to Casa Amiga for 12 pastels de nata to feed the workers.
The bearded roadie was at the pedestrian crossing stationary, sitting on one racer and propping himself up with the other. I found this impressive too.

Many bearded roadies in evidence at the ERC Juniors outing to Inch Park at the weekend. Is this a Thing?
Sought ShuggieT, but to no avail. Many anxious hoverparents.

He started in London and gone clockwise round the South, West & North Coasts and is now heading south.
Looks like he'll overnight near Aberdeen and pass Edinburgh tomorrow (Saturday) late afternoon / evening.

Makes him sound like a satellite, which I suppose, in some ways...

I wonder if he planned a pound sign!

Forth Road Bridge about 5?

either the sensor is slow to update, or he's stopped for a fish supper at burntisland

5pm FRB looks to have been a spot-on prediction
hmm those sensor times changed a bit on the last refresh

He stops to take on refreshments about every 4 hours...

240 miles a day, 16 hours a day in the saddle, five hours sleep. Awesome stamina and endurance whilst suffering

I've followed the journey all the way through. This was all about Mental strength. Some really awesome teamwork as well. His support was super well planned out and despite lots of interesting issues (being crashed into, crashing, borders, gravel roads, roadworks etc) they nailed this with great planning.
The daily VLOGs were really good, nothing fancy just a quick 30secs - 2mins a day going over how he was feeling, how things were going and what was next.
Really interesting to see his physical condition vary throughout but equally he didnt lose any actual weight as that was carefully controlled to ensure that he was remaining fit.
Super impressive feat and I'm looking forward to hearing about it at his talk in Glasgow some time in November.

Incredible physical, mental, planning and logistical feat. More miles than a Tour de France stage every day! The VLogs worked well in feeling part of it, plus following on Strava... although it really puts my commuting mileage to shame.....

@ARobComp - well summed up! i felt the same - shame he did not get more publicity locally - i felt BBC Scotland really should have got behind it and showed the VLOGs perhaps every day instead of the usual 15mins of footy "news" !!!!

Take that Mr Fogg!

Saw his talk at the Book festival on Monday- was a very revealing discussion - he is obsessional and I imagine a nightmare to work with- his team deserve a special mention, which TBF, he regularly does.
He certainly is a very polished interviewee, full of good stories and he had an extremely long queue of readers waiting to sign his books. He spent a nice amount of time with each of them.
His next wee(!) project is taking 80 people doing 240 miles from Campbeltown to Aberdeen - aim is for each to see what a single day of his ride was like and as a group to complete the RTW mileage in 1 day. Should be a programme on STV about it in early October.

An 'interesting' take on the Aberdeen bypass...

I read his "The Man Who Cycled the World" book, which I fully expected to be yet-another-boring-account of my fabby round-the-world trip.
However, I was pleasantly surprised and actually enjoyed the book, mostly because he showed a kind of naivety (almost child like) during such a trip.
