This in the Guardian. Nice idea, maybe, for the roadies who've already maxed out on the Bathgate Alps? (Wherever they are, I've never understood...)

Carrick hills nice and the villages of Barr and Straiton are pretty. Something about getting there might be the reason this has not taken off before. However, putting route signs up will be a good thing. For example here in snowdonia at moment all cycle routes marked.

The Ayrshire Alps is a good way of grouping them.

Bathgate Alps above Bathgate, quite alpine, take in torphicen with cupcakes, Korean War memorial garden, further to the west good route over to blackridge, to the east probably ecclesmachan, faucheldean would be the boundary and to the north Linlithgow.

So climbe due south out of Linlithgow up to beecraigs and you are in the Alps, some new Tarmac on the road that goes through beecraigs with the flying fox on the left.

Up and up then little jink down then back up to cairnpapple hill fort, well worth visit, then descent to Bathgate.
