Union Canal Thorns at Hermiston

Yesterday afternoon my rear tyre was punctured on a suspiciously placed thorn branch before the aqueduct over the bypass at Hermiston (east side). On hind-side I should have stopped to take a picture and move it but at the time I wasn't sure and was then past it, only to wake-up to a flat.

Anyone else had problems wit this? Worth looking out for anyway - pain in the ass fixing

They trim the blackthorn on the canal from time to time and when they do it's a p*ncture frenzy for a couple of weeks until the debris gets blown and pushed aside.

At least you didn't transpierce your thumb while feeling for the offending item inside the tyre.

Had hawthorn or maybe was blackthorn puncture one New Year's Day way out on the canal towpath beyond Ratho and I had a bad hangover and I had to change the tyre which was schwalbe marathon plus. Now these tyres are Kevlar bullet proof lined but not blackthorn proof.

There was nothing suspicious though just random.

I suppose that's another problem with the path being so narrow - cannot get a sweeper down for that sort of thing.

Perhaps it's just my road cycling paranoia showing through :p

@emur you are bang on the money that there is absolutely no sweeping. Many duders on here carry brushes for this very porpoise
