Cycling rather than driving short journeys would save Scots up to £2,000 a year on shorter journeys, cycle developers Sustrans Scotland said today in the first research of its kind.

As someone who's never commuted by car, I feel a bit left out by stories like these. Perhaps I should start for a bit so I can feel the benefit when I switch back.

I wouldn't bother. An old boss once lent me her sports car and parking space for a fortnight.

    I didn't last a week

Something very odd is happening with the morning east bound A89.

It had been a bit more congested since the M8 construction detour started in February. The east bound M8 extension opened at the weekend. Every morning this week the traffic on the A89 has been backed up even further than before. I'm on it at the same time every weekday. I'm trying to work out what's going on.

I'm getting to school at roughly the same speed as usual The detour has slowed me down a little but not anything like as much as the motorists.

I thought it was a competition...

The Eastbound M8 secured the top prize and was built meanwhile the Westbound lost and so is subject to endless delays while people root around the back of sofas for some funds...

Oh, I forgot this is Roads :-(

West bound is open, east bound this weekend.

I thought the old A8 would be empty of motorists but it's still the best way to get to some places east bound. I'll see what it's like next week.

A cow-orker from Carnbroe reckons some of the new bridges are for cyclists.

Well she is a quality cow-orker who has developed an interest in road design over the last couple of years.
