I'm planning to do a post for each ward tomorrow when the results are out.

    Councillors, contact details etc.

Just wondering if there are 'significant' ActiveTravel issues in particular wards.

For instance, the Powderhall line which should be turned into a path is mostly in Leith Walk.

Corstorphine/Murrayfield councillors will be pleased to be reminded about Option A.

    Other things?

Excellent idea. I have a small list of minor things I'll be raising with whichever councillors get elected, but some slightly bigger ones are:

    Portobello/Craigmillar
If Edmonstone Policies Park is developed, it needs to include a decent alternative to The Wisp/Old Dalkeith Road. (Also partially in Lib/Gil).
    Magdalene Glen/Innocent path.

    Liberton/Gilmerton
The pavement along Old Dalkeith Road between Ferniehill and Danderhall should be shared use.
The traffic lights at the ODR/Ferniehill junction should be changed to make it easier to cross as a pedestrian.
Sheriffhall roundabout. Actually Transport Scotland, of course.
    Gilmerton-Shawfair. (Mostly in Midlothian)

    Corstorphine/Murrayfield
A traffic island on Russell Road, beside the zig zags. I think this is the right ward, but it's very close to the boundary with Sighthill/Gorgie.

It would also be worth separately noting the in progress projects that will benefit the ward once built. Need to ensure they understand why they are happening and to avoid them being delayed. Some already are :-(

    Canal- Meadows
    Roseburn - Canal
    Roseburn - Leith Walk
    A8 Cycle Path
& all those consultations that we've just done

Re the Russel Road zigzags: looking at the (very impressive) map on the We Walk, We Cycle, We Vote website, Sighthill/Gorgie is to the south of the railway line, and the boundary between Corstorphine/Murrayfield and City Centre is... the cycle path. So the zigzags are juuuuuust in Corstorphine.

EDITED to add: although I'm in Sighthill/Gorgie, I'm right in one corner of it. I can't think of obvious issues that affect me and are in the ward off the top of my head. I'll have another look at the map at lunchtime.

"I can't think of obvious issues that affect me and are in the ward"

Doesn't need to be in your ward for posting here.

There's the Water of Leith path / Roseburn Park conflict issues in Murrayfield / Corstorphine too.

And a tiny personal / local bugbear is the continued rubbish steps / path from Campbell Av to Murrayfield Gardens. Although it's owned by a resident, they should be required to maintain it to an appropriate standard. They (and their neighbours) are afraid of cyclists rocketing down the path and crashing into pedestrians coming out of their gates. Nothing a decent chicane wouldn't fix though, and would make it better than the present where even those cyclists who don't take a flight of steps in their stride can remount and start cycling at the bottom, getting up a decent speed in 10m or so.

    Leith Walk

Er.... the Leith Walk project! Y'know, new segregated cycleways and all that.

Quiet Route "enhancements" on McDonald Road and Easter Road (latter has gone a bit quiet since the consultation).

Success or otherwise of new 20mph zones and omissions (e.g. London Road).

Epidemic double parking / pavement parking / bus lane parking / double yellow and red line parking, you name it they do it.

Knock-on effect of Leith Street closure for basically a YEAR from September on bus services / traffic congestion / pollution due to the "innovative" proposed diversion through a so-called gyratory in Abbeyhill / Easter Road...

And as previously mentioned previously, the Powderhall line potential...

    Murrayfield/Corstorphine

    How could I have forgot...

Traquair Alley steps and ped/cycle crossing of A8 Corstorphine Rd at bottom of Kaimes Road.

They were waiting for developer contribution from the Barnados site - that's near completion so need to ensure CEC get the cash and it gets built.
