Hi, this is my first post. I'd like to thank the 4 kind cyclists who stopped to help me following an over-the-bars incident on the NEPN near Boswall Place on Monday 8th May. I was in a pretty bad way after landing on my head and one called an ambulance while the other 3 helped me to the edge of the path and then to the ambulance. Fortunately x-rays confirmed only soft tissue damage so I'll be back on the bike soon. Anyway their kindness and concern just confirms and reinforces what I've always thought about 'us' cyclists being a considerate bunch.

Any causal factor lessons from crash? Path issues, vegetation, bike problem?

Glad to hear you're okay. that sort of thing can be really scary, even when no motorised vehicles involved.

No casual factor lessons I'm afraid. A child cycling slowly towards me pulled across right in front of me. I braked hard and, partly because my brakes had been adjusted that afternoon as part of free bike servicing initiative at work(!), went flying. At least I missed the child completely and my helmet did its job.

Ha! The one time I came off my bike as an adult, it was a similar sort of thing - I was trying a bike with drop handlebars for the first (and last) time ever and hadn't quite realised how soggy my own brakes were and how effective other peoples' might be...
