"THE family of a cyclist fighting for his life after a horror crash in Spain have launched an urgent funding campaign to bring him home."

This was posted on FB to explain a bit more about why he didn't have insurance.

"I'm one of John's friends and I was riding with him and others when the accident happened, narrowly avoiding being involved too. John had insurance for the duration of his trip in Spain. However, he then decided to stay on for another month or so. His Wife called to extend their insurance cover for the extra period but the insurance company would not renew it while they were not in the UK. John was due to travel back the following evening for 1 week to see family and to renew the insurance. The accident was horrific and I'm still very upset about it. Please be careful with your comments as this does involve real people and as some people have said his family and friends are dealing with the fall out from this."
