'Sensible' if service is as good/better (some Local Teams have been better than others).

    "but it's not"

Perhaps not at moment, but I'm hoping CEC has devised a sensible strategy - with suitable resources...

The closing of these Twitter accounts is a direct result of the Councils inability to form an administration. It means the Neighbourhood Partnerships don't exist because their committee and chair cannot be selected.

Plus of course they were already on the way out due to the move toward the four Localities instead.

"they were already on the way out due to the move toward the four Localities instead"

Is that not the real reason?

As for "Localities" I wonder -

    A) what % of percentage of people in Edinburgh have heard of this change?

    B) what % of percentage of those people understand what it might mean (good and bad)?

Well, there's been no explicit decision to wind up the NPs... But it'll happen by default when the Council eventually form an administration and create Locality committees instead.

Probably < 15% on both questions. Which is probably the same for NPs too.

Well, I'm in the >85% on both. Can anyone provide a thumbnail sketch?

@ wangi I think you're being optimistic with the first 15%!

@chdot I agree. I would have thought that I follow council policies closer than 99% of the population (sad, I know) and I had no idea.

I only know about this because a councillor told me about it when I went to their surgery (to discuss active travel improvements). I don't know the difference from the current system, though...

Some of the NPs don't even have the staff / resource to even follow through with shutting the Twitter account (e.g. @east_team).

Of course the right thing to do would be to not delete the accounts, but rename then to match the new Localities... So they're not starting fresh with 0 followers.

Optimistic is a new one for me ;)
