Just before 9am - Police and ambulance in attendance - bike propped on tree stump opposite the junction with Craigleith Crescent, car stopped in an "oops" position. If one were to theorise, it looked as though the car had come out of the junction onto Ravelston Dykes and collided with a cyclist heading West.

    Hope the cyclist is OK.

Damn. I saw a report about traffic there / RTC and my first thought was 'i hope it's not a cyclist trying to divert from NEPN'.

Yeah, me too. I'm not sure if the path was actually closed at that point (other thread says things were closed from 9.30am yesterday) but if the signs were still up they may have been diverted without need. It was a bit along from the direct diversion route though, you wouldn't be there on Ravelston Dykes if you were going to get back on Route 1.

It's made me even more nervous about taking the young man out in the trailer though - that bit of road is our only realistic connection to NEPN from our home. I will just have to cycle on the footpath.

Ravvy Dykes is fairly scary - narrow & fast moving.

Will soon be 20mph. (Unless you're in an X5 or Range Rover Evoque, obviously).
