*Maybe* available 9th or 10th or over the Easter weekend (23, 24th). (subject to swmbo's plans!)

I'd be bringing my really heavy and macho Surly
(with soup-plate sized rear sprocket and tiny front granny ring, but if you don't let on I wont ;-))

What's that "pick a mutually agreeable date on the calendar" website that Spytfyre used for going to the Diggers?

8/9 is weekend of Mull it Over so I can't do that :(

Ravelrig Road into the back of Balerno, from the railway bridge, is another option (though I to myself as I grinded up it on a diversionary route home tonight!) Rough check on bikely gives it 300-odd metres of 12%

The inaugural 12 hills reconnaissance run should take place in the near future. I was thinking a week on Sunday, in the morning?

All relatived-up that weekend and weaned-up the following Sunday morning...

I was thinking of just getting out with anyone available and doing it sooner, writing up a report / adjusting route, and then perhaps organising something more mutually convenient with more people?

(Otherwise it might just never happen!)

Alternative would be one weekday evening if weather is good.

Or there's a bank holiday Monday at end of month?

Oh I can't even do that Sunday either, it's Edinburgh Marathon and I've donated my flat for being a base camp and then agreed to ride around the route with a friend to cheer her boyfriend on at various stages.

Anyone available this Sunday morning or perhaps one evening next week?

  8. I'm basically out for quite a while. This Sunday I'm going to the cricket at the Grange; weekend after that I'm visiting relatives up north; then the next three weekends I'll be, in order, travelling to Skye, travelling to Harris, and travelling home.

Evenings? Not next week, the week after is a slight possible...

@anth - I'm meant to be going to the Grange also on Sunday so was planning on fitting it in before hand?

  10. Ah you torment me sir!

Nah, I've promised Mel we'll have our normal Sunday morning brekkie over the papers since I'll then be out most of the day watching chaps hit a ball around a park. Closer to us going to Skye and I might have the X up and running.... :P

Oh dear, depressing that Craighouse doesn't even get into the top 10. I have failed to get up without walking the tandem several times in recent weeks. Think my stoker needs to work harder! (her best friend lives at top of the hill, so its all in her interest!).

Sunday 10AM at bicycle works or other convenient location by mutual agreement. Will head out west to Kaimes Road in Corstorphine for first hill of the morning.

Hmmm without reading this whole thread what's the list of hills???

If I'm back in town by sunday morning I could be up for it

. Not that I'm into cricket but my cousins ex plays for the grange and I can't say what he is without swearing or insulting.

  14. Safe there recombodna, it's Scotland who are playing rather than the Grange.

I *could* be up for Sunday morning, although this will depend very much on how sensible the stag do I am attending on the Saturday is. It's shaping up to be quite sensible, so I suspect the biggest determining factors will be how much booze I consume and how late a night it is...

I take it everyone is using all sorts of crazy bikes for this?

Swap your front and rear cogs and you'll be fine.

"Safe there recombodna, it's Scotland who are playing rather than the Grange." ha ha shows you what I know about cricket eh?

"You win extra points if you do it fixed!"

Sounds like a challenge!! I tried the calton hill cobbles one night on the fixed and with my ratio of 46/16 I just ground to a halt and had to get off and push!!

Just my Audax bike. 53/39 up front. 12-25 at the back. Get up and stand up the bigger hills.

I'm going to sit down aggressively to avoid wheel slip;-)

Will be a 2 wheeled recliner of course.

If I make it I'll be on my compact-geared road bike. A man's got to know his limitations...

Aw, I would've like to do this (also on compact gearing), but I am doing some other bicycle-related activity that morning. Oh well.

If I can repair it in time, and if my knee holds out, I'll bring my little hill-climbing recumbent bike. Three wheels might be cheating, and Speedy is a little prone to wheelslip anyway.

I'll bring the GPS, for extra data.

A GPS for data collection would be most welcome. Time to get those spanners twirling, arrelcat!

Just for the heck of it, I did a GPX equivalent of kaputnik's MapMyRide track:

    150511_CCE_hills.gpx

Will head out west to Kaimes Road in Corstorphine for first hill of the morning.

What's the plan? Are we going to Kaimes first, or Blackford first and proceeding in a clockwise direction?

I need to be back home by 5ish, in case we get carried away with climbing hills.

I was thinking heading South first from general location of bicycleworks and doing clockwise, finishing in town centre.

We can meet anyone in any location that is convenient to them.

Laidback and I thought we'd depart Argyle Place around 10AM.

I have cricket match to go watch in the afternoon so we probably won't run too late. Although if cycling is proving too much fun I might stay on the bike and keep climbing hills until 5!
