Those that were up the pub the pother week will know I am on in there in 45 mins with my one man Joycean Opus for Edinburgh Bloomsday (do not worry IWRATS who is comiong, it is just some short readings from the Cycliops episode)

However, I used to belong to another society (mostly sociologists) where we analysed a Fall song on a Friday.

So here is the mighty Mark E Smith on Edinburgh Architecture. (Now he likes the Black Watch Statue but he don't like the Earl Haig one)

Also his take on Edinburgh architecture is that we were too tight to knock any buildings down

Mark had a south side flat for a bit in the late eighties, he liked to cut around here cos you could chat about Nietzsche with the bloke who turned up to read the leccy meter

    Three quarks for Muster Mark!

Intense performance from a dapper Gembo brought the house down and boomeranged a couple of unforewarned clients.

Thanks IWRATS, my pal smithy that you were chatting to, gave me five stars but he later clarified that was five out of a hundred.

Well I can only award three quarks: top, charm and strange otherwise the hadron would become unstable. [Science joke in literary context alert]

    Seems fair.

I told an affable EU trainer during an EU conference jolly in Malta about subatomic particles Quarks being named by James Joyce in finnegans wake. He kind of woke up from automatic pilot money for old rope I can speak six languages and fashion a living out of EU slush at this point. He was called Mark, drank a lot of my Jot a Bey and gave me some very nice Armenian brandy just before asking me to complete an evaluation form. Clearly On the evaluation I gave -

    Three quarks for Muster Mark.

See also the Hawkwind song Quarks, strangeness and charm.

There are other quark songs but the Hawkwind one has a catchy riff or two.

Ah yes, the riff comes to mind and I wonder if Lemmy played on that one and suddenly the band name is Headwind.
