I know a few of us here are keen on hill forts. I've done at least one CCE fort visit.

    Clicky for Linky

This is a new one to me saw it on the BBC earlier today. I've found a few of the ones I've managed to visit in the past few months.

Nice, I do like a hill fort

detectorists, series 1 still available on iplayer, ends at a ship burial

In the first series episodes 5 and 6 are the strongest.

hopefully setries 2 will start on Monday night.

In this world of sturm und drang it is good to be able to watch detectorists

Does the term hillfort specifically exclude the modern era?

I panned straight to the one 'hill fort' that I know I've visited and it's not there.

What a great resource. I've long been an admirer of earthworks like these (well, I used to be an archaeologist so it was rather a requirement of the job).

Although not a 'hillfort', the stretch of surviving Antonine Wall ditch crossing Croy Hill is truly remarkable because the Roman squaddies in 142AD cut the required V-profiled ditch into solid rock. I'm sure they loved that detail...
