It's an advert - seemingly paid for by TransportScotland & CyclingScotland - BP are being paid to have adverts there (managed/chosen by Adnozzle if I remember the name of the company correctly)

Can't stand that "Give everyone cycle space" advert myself. What is it trying to achieve? It's Scotland's one long-running, national cycle promotion campaign and it seems to say:

"Drivers, mind the oiks - if it's not too much bother"

Of all the ways to promote cycling (health, environment, cost - hell, even the fact it is ridiculous fun) and they choose to remind potential cyclists they are at the mercy of drivers choosing to be nice to them.

    Am I missing something?

    "Am I missing something?"

    Plus

Another way for SG to give money to the oil industry.

It's a way for drivers to berate you for wanting a whole lane, when according to those adverts they only have to give you an arms' length of safety.

Yeah, the last time I looked, my arms weren't 1.5m long.

So, yet again, drivers are being conditioned to believe passing within 2-3 feet is safe.

If Cycling Scotland are paying for these - whether it's in part or in whole - then shame on them.
