I noticed Gladdy Terrace. My in-laws sent me a picture.

I’m super happy about these. I now have a dock 30 seconds walk from my work which I can see from my desk and 30 seconds walk from my house which I can just about see from my front window.

Am delighted to see the direction of this week's work being very much along along the lines of providing regularly spaced spots along transport corridors that are visible and convenient for users.

    A8 Costorphine inwards
    QR8 Balgreen inwards
    B900 Craigleith inwards

The B900 route is particularly good to have, it's mostly flat (Powderhall incline excepted) and not well served by public transport. Hope some docks come up to serve the Bonnington Rd end as there's a lot of useful-but-quite-cut-off shops and homes down there.

It's opened up Stockbridge as a place to visit for me that was previously in my mind too far to walk and even moreso inconvenient by bus.

New virtual Dock at Riverside Cres just outside the doctors. Handy for Murrayfield and the ice rink.

My closest Dock is still a km away from my house and I doubt there will be one at Granton any time soon but for journeys which aren't on the tram it could be a nice option.

@Stickman Did you just dock a bike at the forestry commission?

Anyone want to take bets on whether someone else rents it before morning...

Depends what odds you're offering, it's only a ten minute walk away.

Walked past the new virtual dock at Hillside Crescent last night. Plenty of bikes there. Good to see the service creeping eastwards, even if it's only just on the edge of the New Town so far.

I can see this being popular with visitors AirBnBing, staying in nearby hotels or students from the accommodation block close by.

@hankchief, it is still there currently. Perhaps stickman has slept in.

I see Barnton shops has one now too.

@acsimpson: late start for me this morning but I took it into work. Already thinking of it as my personal station.

Sounds good. I'll try not to stalk you online too much.

With a ~50% increase in docks in just a few days I wonder if we might have a pause now while they start to roll out the extra bikes?

If they add more docks my graph is going to get rather tight!

Looks like bikes have been delivered to the Roseburn/Murrayfield docks.

I see on the news there is a growing trend of urban hire scooters offering environmental quick urban transport with no government support. There is also dock less hire bicycles.

I wonder if these will appear in Edinburgh

Ed1 - electric scooters are currently illegal to use in the UK on the pavement, footpaths, cycle tracks or the carriageway. The only place they are legal to use is private land. The UK Government would have to change the law before any company could attempt to introduce these to the UK.

I'm being tempted into attempting to ride a Just Eat bike back from Carlisle with Ride to the Sun...

Does the fact that I've never ridden one them make it a more or less stupid idea?

My concern would be the saddle.

    Spotted today @ Pinkhill......

Looks like it's been there months and I've been walking past with my eyes closed.

Have never seen a bike there tho. I'd have noticed that!

@Frenchy - anyone know if the hire bikes have standard diameter seat posts? If so, it would be easy to switch out for a more suitable saddle...

Not easy to remove anything from those bikes, I think. Half the seats would be in the canal by now if it were.

@jules878: don’t worry, it only went in on Wednesday! It is a bit hidden behind the sign.

They haven’t stocked all of the new hire points yet, so hopefully there will be some there soon.

I noticed that the mat at West Coates is lifting away just like the Pinkhill one.

Don't think swapping the saddle is quite cricket, else you could end up with Trigger's broom...

Can you hire one for long enough to get to Carlisle and back? I thought you needed to re-dock every hour or something?

Official rates are £1 for each extra 30mins over the hour. I have sent them a cheeky tweet asking for a discount.

I think trying one out before committing to this would be wise...

Pleased that my personal station is well stocked.

Unhurt can show you how to get one without activating it on the app.

You are fooling exactly nobody. You know and I know that you are now committed.
