Quite a few new parking zones in the previous area too which is helpful. Some big gaps without parking zones in the new section though, including all of Western Harbour.

Looks like quite a few of the new parking areas in Leith are also capped to 5/6 rather than 10. Only a single 5 capacity parking area for a big chunk around Bernard Street/The Shore which I can’t see working well…

feels odd that there's no parking spots right at Ocean Term or end/start of tram at Newhaven.

Not sure what the point of including the east section of Leith Links is when there are no parking zones east of Salamander Place. It certainly looks like they've been ignoring the parking spot suggestions they requested, as well as all other emails and feedback.

Anyone any thoughts about whether ‘mass availability’ of hire bikes will mean more ‘cycling’, more people buying their own bikes, existing bike owners using hire bikes and not replacing/upgrading bikes?

And any consequential impact on bike shops.

Odd way to do a ‘rollout’

the slow way the numbers are increasing kinda feels like being rolled out by 1 man & a van.

tbh his stickers are on every lampost and bus shelter in North Edi.

I wonder if they have the capacity to describe parking zones as shapes other than rough circles/hexadecagons? The display map doesn't show the fine details of kerb shapes, so parking spots like Salamander Place are centred around the rounded corner of the footway where the dropped kerb is, whereas the best place for the bikes is a little to the east next to the bollards, yet the bikes on the map appear to be in the middle of the road.

There were a load of voi bikes at the coop yesterday afternoon (right at the border of the zone). Possibly to do with the various sportball events yesterday. Maybe Haymarket was empty because the sportball fans actually used all the bikes with some parked once the assist turned off?

    8am, about 120

Suggests surprising number in use or removed/waiting for batteries.

Following recent news about the initial successes of the fifty-cycle 'trial' scheme by hire e-bike provider Voi since launching in Edinburgh in early September — with over 21.7k individual trips by more than 5,000 users — Samhain came around and saw the scheme's perimiter grow as promised, along with a gradual increase in the number of available bikes.

There's a few new features - read on for our round-up.

Following a call for photos of Voi bikes blocking cycle racks, I've had someone at CEC working with directly with Voi reach out about it, which is really promising.

This is good news - as Voi themselves seem a bit of a black box in terms of contactability - but will be interesting as the app itself shows a number of photos with Voi bikes in bike racks as an example of acceptable parking.

Another question for the VOId - why are they incentivising me with three free minutes on a bike parked not in a parking zone three kilometres away rather than any in FULL parking zones 800m away?

Because they have a KPI about how long bikes spend parked not in a parking zone, and want you to shift it for them?

The camera didn’t work for my post-ride photo so I lost my perfect activity score :(

Quite interesting to see the movement of bikes across the city over the day, with the city centre filling up before decanting back out.
