I recall reading that on some pavements a line of metal studs marks the boundary of private and council property. A specific example is the office development around Port Hamilton: there's a line of these studs encircling the buildings on the Fountainbridge, Semple St and Morrison St pavements.

I also recall seeing a complaint about a car parked on the Fountainbridge pavement but that nothing could be done as it was within the metal studs and so was on private property.

If this is the case would pavement cycling be allowed within the studs if the property owners haven't banned it (ie the opposite of Multrees Walk)?

The reason I ask is that lots of people going between the canal and the office car parks on Semple St cycle on a short bit of pavement to get through the office buildings. In the photo below its between the gap in the offices on the left and the underground car parks entrance on the right.

Some of my less cycling-friendly colleagues complain about this but I wonder of it may actually be allowed?
