CEC should be ashamed of itself; soil compaction in St Andrew Square and its effect on tree health was reported at least a year ago.

Broughton Spurtle has been very good at tracking the (mis)use of St Andrews Sq and asking hard questions of 'Essential Edinburgh'.

Given that 9 months has now passed, I would be curious to know if all the following has happened:

'it will within 1 month, undertake a programme of crown reduction and deadwood removal to lower the risk of falling material harming people or property.

Also within a month, it will undertake ‘root collar excavation to decompact and apply mulch’ around seven particularly at-risk trees.

Within six months, it will ‘create 0.5m radius mulch ring around tree base and decompact’ in a further 20 cases.'

Perhaps should be known as 'Non-essential Edinburgh'?
