I was fine yesterday, but decided to give up on South Bridge today due to the amount of slush.

Wow, 8% tricycle. That's not going to last.

We just had a front garden full of cycles because I was instructed to waste my extra day off getting Christmas tat from the loft and garage.

They're all back in the garage now.

I voted "other" as I mostly ran. It would take a long time to walk all the way.

Had me worried, thought you were calling your bikes tat...

Laidback said he would try a trike today.

Today was worse than Monday. No gritters around in North Edinburgh by 8ish when I went in. Thankfully very few cars too. Only fell off once and into quite a lot of snow - soft landing. Main roads OK coming back.

I voted for "'Working' at home", although I don't like the way it's been phrased. I'm working extremely hard just as hard as I would be in the office.

I would have added "working from home" too - but it only allows 9 options...

Snowboard, bored with snow, skis, taxi, submarine (when the FRB was shut).

Next winter I'm going to try to commute by electric Ski-Doo. It's probably a better bet for the snowdrifts than the recumbent trike.

Tempted to find a cheap Defender but I'd need to get rid of the Volvo that doesn't work and it's handy for spares.

Other might be the unicylist I saw unicycling up the St Leonards on Monday.

I saw a chap with snow shoes on the other day. He was walking along the top of the big pile of snow between the pavement and the road.

I've got my great-grandmother's snowshoes, which she used to break a path to the schoolhouse when she was a teacher before she got married. And my old skis from when I raced. Unfortunately, both on the wrong side of the Atlantic.

I only fell off once this morning when cycling in to work. It was at a junction where motorists had obviously been spinning their wheels thus it was polished sheet ice.

I took trike out to find out the pros and cons.

Pros - you can't fall off and can corner as much as you like

Cons - back wheel lacks traction on some side roads. You can't do Innocent Railway but not sure what can anyway. The Hermits Croft Estate was bad enough. Note turn off through snow drift to Innocent on first pic!

Did loop through park and dropped into agency at Newington. Felt fast and very secure. I have Marathon Racers but modifed with zip tie 'snow chains' - only uses front brakes.

One taxi didn't like me so must be right idea.

I could use the zip ties on the back wheels. I very rarely have traction problems there unless the snow is very deep, like 10-12". The weight might be more over the back wheels on mine but then there are two back wheels.

I took re-routed 45 from Balerno to Gillespies X-road then ran (same as yesterday). Faster than cycling and indeed same speed as bus as it kept stopping to pick up people and the first few stops waiting for me but then realised I was racing not chasing.

I've been cycling in and out along the Lanark Road as normal. It's been positively pleasant on account of the lack of other vehicles. I passed 5 buses on the way in this morning - all in Currie - and none of them had come past me by the time I reached the West End.
