    Yesterday.

    http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/our-region/edinburgh/cyclist-injured-in-leith-walk-crash-1-4516154

"he collided with a delivery van coming out of Balfour Street ... It was reported by an unnamed passerby, that the man was travelling at a significant speed at the time of the collision.

Hope he makes a quick recovery.

So - driver pulled out onto death-trap cycle lane without looking and cyclist went over the bonnet/windscreen?

This is right outside my flat but I didn't get home until nearly nine PM so saw nothing. It's an appalling junction with non-existent sight lines for pedestrians on the north kerb and plenty of drivers entering to look for unregulated parking.

I hope the cyclist recovers fully - sound very nasty. Accounts of speed of the cyclist have a nasty victim-blaming tinge to them...

I always try to travel at an insignificant speed for safety's sake.

Hope the person involved isn't too badly hurt.

Article has changed from "delivery van" to "delivery vehicle".

Appears that said vehicle was a small Italian-made car, part of a large distinctively-liveried fleet belonging to a local Italian restaurant and delivery chain. Said chain have previously featured heavily in the rubbish driving thread

My dislike of Leith Walk downhill regularly sees me taking the back streets instead of Leith Walk - Dryden Terrace bridge then hopping across Pilrig Street, despite the relative inconvenience. I would be exiting from Balfour Street on such occasions, it's not a very busy street generally.

Hope the injured person recovers fully.
