Short-lived cycling infrastructure

Earlier this year, the council pointed some pointless cycling lanes on Corbiehill Rd. These were, in part, to the inside/right of the "parking lane."

(The main impact of these seemed to be to increase the amount of double parking.)

However, cycling along the street today, the whole road has been resurfaced and all the markings are gone.

Complete waste of money. (Money, I suspect, was taken out of the active travel budget.)

Not a complete waste It may be considered good practice (not necessarily best practice) for the artists that create and paint the cycle lines

Looking at google street view, it's probably good that they've gone (though would be better if they were replaced by something better.)

Living in the area, I'm glad they're gone. (Though the new surface is shocking - but it might just be temporary.)

Headed east, the bike "lane" was a bumpy broken surface will lots of little stones. So I found myself cycling in the middle of the road - which, of course, means furious drivers behind me who think

    (A) I'm breaking the law by not being in the cycle lane.

    (B) I'm doing it in order to hold them up.

    Better off without it.
