...the soon to be opened, 3 lanes of brand new road, approach to the new Forth road bridge on the Edinburgh side? I might sneak on it this weekend.

It's very tempting, isn't it. The chances of not being spotted aren't great though. Good luck !

I managed to cycle down the off ramp of the Queensferry south approach yesterday. I wanted to get down to the main road and spin a uee and come back, but some works vans were heading up from the bridge side and I didn't want to get in their way.

The road is sooooooo smooth, for the 20 or 30 seconds I was on it, it was bliss. When you consider how awful the current 'road improvements' are in Edinburgh, I have to ask WHY can't they make roads as smooth as this in the city! Answer is probably money I imagine.

It seems such a waste that only motorised vehicles will be able to use this road in a couple of weeks time.

They can and are laid very well - I cycled up to the Bike Co Op from Gilmore place earlier......from lunar landscape to silky smooth within 200 yards.

The problem is that heavy buses drive in the town and there are multiple utilities buried under the road which get dug up and poorly reinstated.

... and then water gets into every crack and joint and geography GCSE reminds me that you get freeze-thaw shattering etc.
