I thought it was an odd time of day for fireworks.

I just assumed the cat was hungrier than normal.

My dog saw two squirrels this morning. Could also have been him.

Cat's quite keen on eating squirrels, much to their surprise. Possible he opened fire on the same unfortunate rodent as your dog?

Oh wow, if he'd seen a cat and two squirrels at the same time there would have been an explosion so big we wouldn't be here to talk about it.

ALL eyes in the Capital will be raised skywards tonight at 9pm as the Virgin Money Fireworks Concert lights up the night sky, bringing the 70th Anniversary International Festival to a spectacular close.

I was sitting on a hill with my lady and a small quantity of red wine witnessing the senseless succession of lights and noises in the sky. Baffling frankly.

We took the lad to watch them, he thought they were spiders.

We mused as to whether it would be easier and a bigger statement just to take the amount of money spent on the fireworks and publicly burn it some place.

I decided that since I could only hear an occasional bang from the fireworks, I wasn't overly moved to head out to watch them. I listened to some groovy 1970s tunes on the wireless instead.
