Let's have a whip round and buy one for the forum?

Imagine all the infrastructure we could label....

I'm fairly sure that "pronk stot sika muntjac" is a perfectly valid sentence where I'm from.

I'd want it bundled with the Banksy fun pack.

@iwrats, I will give you 10 flavia for that. Flavia is a currency that gets you one coffee for one Flavian in the world of Flavian coffee machines. We are moving desks in the restack and I have been given ten Flavia

YouTube is blocked at my work. Until I got home, I had no idea whatsoever what this thread was about.

I often have no idea what a thread is about especially if it is started by certain forumites ;-)

In the great McKenzie Crook comedy show detectorists he bags up ring pulls (tiger 1974) and sells them on eBay.

Flavia are worthless if you have no Flavian coffee machine. OTOH they are worth 10p plus postage on ebay

"especially if it is started by certain forumites"

    Who could you possibly mean...

(Actually the problem doesn't usually start with the person starting the thread!)

Excuse me, the rules are 2. No swearing and 1.No personal insults.

One reason this forum has survived the early helmet debate wars and gone on so long is that these two rules are enough for us.

I wouldn't want it any other way. Life is much more interesting if you don't always understand what is going on...

    Problem?

I think my dad must have seen @Dougal's cartoon some time in the mid-nineties.

    "Excuse me"

Certainly (I sense some defensiveness there).

"these two rules are enough for us" seems so (I am glad to say).

"Life is much more interesting if you don't always understand what is going on..." (As the Chinese saying goes.)

I think we have 'lost' the odd person who couldn't cope with things that weren't cycling/Edinburgh and/or thread 'drift', but -

OFFICIAL NOTE: 'complaining' about thread drifts/flights of fancy is NOT the same as wishing they didn't happen.

There is also maybe an unwritten rule that we are largely a white liberal intelligentsia and that being overtly Tory on here requires a thick skin?

Well, that is just like my opinion, man and sorry if I have caused offense.

I think I'm overtly conservative, and have actively voted Conservative, but I think I'm actually only conservative in my theology and morality - my politics may be more Green!

I'm probably just confused, but never offended by CCE.

In my opinion(s) you can carry on as per usual...

Given I've been known to engage in many eccentric meanderings and thread drift, I think we can carry on...

But perhaps I can only speak for myself!

One of the many joys of CCE is its poetic aspect. Just as you can't see things in the dark if you look straight at them, sometimes you need to write your way around the outside of a subject in order to illuminate it.

If this wasn't true we could just have one thread with one post reading 'We like bicycling'.

I exhort all and sundry to carry on as unusual.
