Today's leisure ride, mrs splitshift in situ , working from home, no work for me so no commute needed, jump on old truck bike, panniers and comfort seat post, built out of old Raleigh frame, forgot last ride meant I had all spare tubes in rucksack!!! So inevitable canal area puncture! In panniers is old faithful plastic repair bottle, spanners, screwdrivers and glue and patches! So , I duly get old school and repair it! All good! 4 Lycra canal warriors , all spinning wheels and muck blast past without even a how are you! Two aggressive dugs, pit bull types barking and jumping toward me, pick up pump and prepare for my best dog whisperer pose, owner shouts, dogs sit, and are very happy dogs! Introduce myself to the waggiest of tails and the equally aggressive looking owner asks if I am ok, can he help? Would he like me to drive, his car was just along the canal, to Linlithgow and get a tyre ! No need I am sorted thank you !! Quick blether and away !! Humanity is not all bad !!
