He is the rightful King of The Lothian after all. (In his mind) also phone signal should be dandy. Also a tree near his beloved Moffat is Scottish tree of the year. A wee mountain ash that clung on when all the other rowans leave me (to muck up a Roches song)

Haven't even looked at the route. Probably never will but count me in.

I'll need to see if I can fit a cold weather outfit on the cdf the bars are a lot narrower than the mtb.

(oh and finish building the cdf and check I can ride it that far)

Another from the Marcus Stitz stable of local creations, thankfully slightly aimed more at us normal folk, not type 3 specialists.

Maybe not one for present weather, as mud would be hampering and its not overly short. Also Sherrifhall RA is somewhere I swore never to take a bike again, still that was 2018 and it's presumably far more bike friendly now right ?

    The rona loop

Given months of wfh and associated impact on fitness, I don't think there'd be too much trouble keeping socially distant.

    any interest ?

Rapha tried this from trendy Stockbridge bike shop. I warned the Clubbiedean cafe to get in more soup, no one came

I'm in. Are we climbing or descending the side of the Hillend ski slope?

In fairness, it does say "Some portions of the Tour may require you to push your bike."

Pushing across Sheriffhall is possibly even more terrifying than cycling across it, though.

    Expert gravel ride.

An honest response to that categorisation would breach Rules 1 and 2.

I have tried several times to ride up and down a dry-ski slope, pretty much impossible. Wasn't Hillend, so maybe that's different .

It's just stupid. No one in their right mind would do this as anything other than a performance of pain.

It's an interesting attempt to follow the CEC boundaries. However, after the Pentlands lunacy, it rather gives up around Kirkliston & S Queensferry - it even misses out the road that the boundary runs down the middle of. Not gravelly/gnarly enough to be of interest, I guess.

I had something similar (but slightly more reasonable) set up as the 1st loop of a 200k DIY completely within CEC. AUK has just pulled all validations though.

Is Albert Road in the docks open now? Or is that breaking and entering?

Thanks @neddie. He seemed to get lost around Burdiehouse, which is possibly the closest parallel I will ever draw to MB...

Oooh I got lost innBurdiehpuse once, seem to go wrong at Gracemount Primary

ended up at Bypass very unexpectedly, but then found great road back to Gilmerton. Not sure I could find again. Was also traffic free for some reason

@gembo - I could tell you which road that was. My fees are reasonable...

    @Frenchy

    Too kind

Actually, did you not tell me before? Even posted a wee map and everything

The bit from the bypass would have been sh1t if it had not been. Closed to traffic. But the lane down to the quaint village of Gilmerton was sweet

Apparently I did it for free last time too, although I don't seem to have provided a map.

@Murun, is getting lost in Burdiehouse a closer parallel than sharing initials Even if they are (presumably) an pseudonym.

If anyone fancies an on-road version of this, mr fimm did this, inspired by bill and whoever-else-it-was and their 200km within the city limits route.

@Prof French, I see now the map was from Glorious Leader. The previous thread also appears to discuss the south House burdiehouse Wormhole. nice to replay

Albert Road is blocked off now - replaced bars in the West gate and a new fence to the west.

@fimm, yeah I might give something like that a shot once I'm a bit fitter. Only cycling I'm doing currently is to the shops and the allotment...
