Was on mission to the Faith Mission early am today. BRAID HILLS fantastic. Knew was road Block at Liberton Nursery. Was just going to push round but footerie so I headed up libertin Gardens ? and cut through St Katharines Brae and jinked through drop off at Gracemount Primary.

At this point I appear to have been abducted by aliens. As instead of going down Ellen’s Glen I found myself in south house Burdiehouse without as far as i can recall crossing Captains Road.

So much to my surprise I appeared to be heading to the bypass. I then found a pretty big road with no traffic on it that took me back towards Gilmerton and followed signs down to newtoft street and my destination. (Lang Loan)

I truly cannot fathom what I did

You went straight on at the Frogston Road junction instead of turning left? Then came along Lang Loan?

EDIT: Nope, see now that you didn't. I'm afraid to say that if you didn't cross Captain's Road during that journey then you probably did get abducted by aliens.

My spokes edinburgh map is ancient. A gift from CHDot. 6th edition with the cover photo by CHDot. Certain high flats gone from the route i appear to have taken and certain parkland now covered in housing. I definitely cycled on Lang Loan for the first time - it was great as traffic free.

I do like that road. If only Straiton roundabout wasn't at one end of it.

Yes @ Frenchy I had some trepidation approaching that roundabout but the Lang loan was first exit so fine and dandy. Though weird that no cars at all until i was back at Gilmerton

@Frenchy Good point and see also the lights story on the Aldi thread, where my back lights appear to have run out of charge forcing me in to LIDL to buy lights, only for them to start working again once out of the Gilmerton Triangle

I'll never forgive @recombodna for not being pronounced ree-com-bodnah as I first thought, thoughtlessly. Moving you to Fife pales in comparison.

    From link!!!

This article needs attention from an expert in Mythology. The specific problem is: The tone is perhaps not suited to an encyclopaedic article, and I question the use of the info box which suggests an inappropriate level of accurcay.. WikiProject Mythology may be able to help recruit an expert. (August 2017)

@iwrats, some of us still do think it's pronounced that way.

i remember Fife Aid, back in the late 80s

Sugarcubes played a gloriously bonkers gig. Marillion headlined on sunday night, it was Fish's last gig as frontman for them. he was wailing so much about the state of the world, i remember saying at the time, the only thing that can save this gig now is if Fish declares that the mothership has come down to save us all
