Silverknowes Roundabout - Danger Alert

    The main issue to putting an edge in is the drainage, as mentioned previously. The roundabout is shallow and the only run-off is to the centre of the roundabout. There is no drainage at the perimeter.

    Therefore, without significant redesign that would incur large expense, they can't introduce an actually hard edge in that area. The engineer also said that spaced orcas would only last 5 minutes with the buses trampling them all the time.

    It looks as though the rumble strip could be introduced quite quickly. Let's see how that goes.

    Of course, there's still a very big case for a proper crossing at end of Silverknowes Road. Something to take up with the Community Council?

    Further email saying that they will paint rumble strip as soon as contractor returns to restore original poor paint. Soon, in other words.

    Rumble strip paint has now been installed. I was sent a video by someone today and it certainly seems to have improved compliance. Keep your eyes peeled on how drivers are behaving and feedback if you see corner cutting coming back.
