Sounds seriously like that was a targetted theft I lost my 27" Pennine with maxicar hubs and wide range gearing - rode beautifully & with 126"top gear I once spun out at almost 60mph on A9 dual carriageway down the hill into Inverness

Doing a show at Fringe I sensed the bike was bing staked out by loitereing bloke, when I stopped for chips, & then I took it in to the Theatre left it in hall directly outside room I was in. My guess is that I was beiung watched through window to be sure I was settled in the room when thay went in to the hall and took bike.

Have seen thefts where the close windows on stair are watched from back lane, along with windows in flats to see coming/going and in/out

Another warning for those with garages that are easily viewed from traffic passing on footway outside. Avoid having easily viewed n+1 collection on display when door is open - notes will be made and bikes catalogued. A similar process went on 40 years ago with station cycle parking regular bikes were catalogued and bike park was 'warehouse' for bikes stolen to order usually during day for commuters, with stolen bikes often taken 1-2 stops down the line on the train to avoid having bike recognised on its way out through local area.

As a crimewatch detail the loitdering/looking in windows behaviour can be a handy alert.

So any key identifying detail on frame or components?

I recognise this lady (and this bike) from the train. She's one of my (ir-)regular CdF buddies. Really sad to hear this is no longer true!!
