Edinburgh Police Box (Northfield Broadway at the junction with Mountcastle Drive North, EH8 7SA)

Lost Edinburgh say "This is an Edinburgh police box with original interior fittings, commissioned in May 1933 as one of about a hundred produced to the 1929 design of City Architect Ebenezer James MacRae. The police boxes were designed to fulfil a modern, practical and technical function, whilst being styled to fit in with the city’s existing architecture. The police box will be dressed with 1930s/1940s props to illustrate how it was used."

Is that a tiny stove I see on the right of some pictures? (They must have had some way to boil the kettle?)

  2. This is only a minute from my house. I poppped in last year. The owner is a chap from fife who has done a great job restoring it. He kitted it out with the Police stuff specifically for open doors day last year.

My wife used to pass him regularly and blether during its restoration. Apparently he bought it because he always wanted one, and would be very happy if someone could put it to some kind of local/community use.

That's good to know - it looks rather lovely. I hope it finds some uses.
