Has anyone been to the Forsinard Observatory? Dead keen to visit, and even keener to find out if it has a door, and if it does if that door is locked at night. Platform bivvying plans aborning... (And the downstairs has a roof if it gets wet.) An Inverness SNH friend thought it was probably okay as long I don't set fire to anything - or tell anyone she said it was ok if I get arrested for misuse of RSPB property.

@unhurt
Looking at the website and reflecting on the object and the landscape in which it is embedded I have to say that I doubt your proposition would count as misuse in the designer's mind.
That structure practically pleads to be slept on.
As regards doors and permission; pah.

I'll add "jemmy" to the packing list.

Step ladder should do it.

Does anyone have a telescopic microstepladder I could borrow? Must fit into a pannier.

Lucky this is allowed given the wide discussion here and on facebook

If you've got a bicycle just stand on that. No ladder required.
What is 'facebook'?

Facebook, well either a very elaborate waste of time or a way of sharing information, depends

Some risk of bottomless mire - might attach floats to bike first...
Facebook: a magical place where you can look at pictures of Gembo in the pub.

“Facebook: a magical place where you can look at pictures of Gembo in the pub.”
That’s why I’m not on it.

@chdot, you have seen me in the pub in the flesh so you do not need to see me on facebook
