Excellent. This is being used a lot, and effectively in Zimbabwe, to make events available to a wider range of people. Nice to see it being done here too, especially since I can't make it.

Lesley Macinnes coming across very well. admits to being a non-cyclist, but says she's considering an electric bike, and has two grown up child who are commited cyclists.

Now telling the story of Silverknowes roudnabout as an example of responsivenes.

Thought Cllr Mcinnes came across well. Lots to do but sadly a few barriers to overcome as well. Get the impression she will leave her mark as Transport Convenor.

Thanks to Spokes for arranging the meeting and organising the webcast.

Any feedback on the web stream from people who watched at home very welcome

I see those without accounts had problems. I wasn't aware Facebook gated live content like that. There are other platforms available.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much Cllr Imrie also "gets it". He hadn't replied to the small number of emails I'd sent him previously about cycling in Midlothian, so had unfairly pigeon-holed him as someone only interested in cars.

Lots of good talk about solving cross-boundary issues too.

Live stream worked well for me. I could even hear it above my turbo trainer

The webcast wouldn't flow via my home Wi-Fi so I ended up using my phone (thankfully I have lots of data allowance).

I even managed to press some emoji buttons whilst doing the washing up.

I tried to watch but couldn't access it as I don't have a Facebook account.

I had trouble with my wifi at home too, which I've not had with other FB live events. may have been time of day?

But i thought it worked well, and was easy to find and use (no new software needed, no flash 'upgrades' unlike other live platforms).

@Klaxon - worked fine on my mobile.
Obviously the camera couldn't show the accompanying slides - words were what mattered though so could listen in.
I'm on FB so no issues viewing or commenting.

Maybe it was my blinkered view through the FB feed, but I didn't feel that any of the councillors really "get it".

I can't really place my finger on why, but the attitude of the councillors seemed to be "we're doing things for the cyclists" (like we're still some kind of separate species) and a lot of chat about shoving cyclists down back roads and the back roads were all fine and nothing needed to be done about the speeding, rat-running and overwhelming amount of traffic on them...

And no mention of actually putting protected cycle routes down main roads, where human beings actually want to go.

Also, I wish I'd been there to ask the question why they're burning up half the cycle budget on gold-plating the NEPN and not employing more staff on the active travel team to speed up the schemes in progress.

There was a heck of a lot of waffle from all parties IMV
