I just passed an incident on Roseburn Gardens. From the position of the car stopped in the middle of the road looks like it cut the corner and hit a cyclist.

Cyclist seemed fine, but this was inevitable given the speed at which cars cut that corner on thls rat run (part of a quiet family friendly route remember).

Drivers behind showing a lot of concern, shouting at the driver of the offending car to move out of their way. The cyclist was telling them to turn around and go the other way while they sorted things.

Glad to hear that the cyclist looked to be OK.

Ironically, the current Streetview photo shows a car doing exactly as you describe.

I've thought for a while that there could be a good case for blocking access for motor vehicles at the north end of Roseburn Gardens. Its only real purpose seems to be as a rat run to avoid the lights at the top of Roseburn Street.

When I passed the scene the cyclist was telling the driver "I'm not paying for damage to your car - you hit me".

@ejstubbs: yes, that's it's only purpose. And Murrayfield Community Council (and others) fought tooth and nail to keep it open.

    It's a nasty corner.
@ejstubbs - Yes - that network of streets should be access only. There's no reason for them to be through roads. Roseburn Street isn't even that busy.

I actually stopped going that way to avoid being cut up - went through a phase of almost being hit every time I went that way...
