Had forgotten that the cycle path at Leith St is closed.

Sign says "Cyclists dismount and use footway", but that didn't seem like a great idea with a trailer, so I went along Regent Road and London Road instead. This apparently made the driver of the lorry behind me unhappy, as he tailgated and revved the engine all the way along Regent Road until I pulled in at the High School, mistakenly thinking it was Royal Terrace. Still, was glad not to have them behind me any more.

Slow Progress! This from Transport Scotland (has anyone else received a copy?):
    Our ref: A22571717
    Date: 29th November 2018
    Dear Sir/Madam,
THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL (CALTON ROAD, GREENSIDE ROW, LEITH STREET AND, WATERLOO PLACE, EDINBURGH) (REDETERMINATION OF MEANS OF EXERCISE OF PUBLIC RIGHT OF PASSAGE) ORDER
I refer to the above-named Redetermination Order which has been referred to Scottish Ministers for determination.
Transport Scotland have, due to the number of maintained objections to the order, referred the case to the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA). All the relevant papers have now been passed to the DPEA with a request that a Reporter is appointed.
The DPEA will write to you in due course providing all the necessary details of how the case will be taken forward. The Council has also been advised.
    Yours sincerely,
    C. Stalker

Yeah, I received the same letter earlier in the week. As Morningsider commented in another thread, standard procedure.

    From the Spurtle:

    ---

Leith Street will close to motor traffic again, this time for three weeks, from 7pm on 5 May till 7am on 25 May.

Briefer weekend disruptions are expected in June.

Laing O’Rourke, the contractor building the new Edinburgh St James Quarter, says the closure will stretch from Waterloo Place to Greenside Row. Greenside Row will remain open. Calton Road will close.

Most previous traffic diversions will return, but an Abbeymout gyratory will not be repeated as it takes too long to install and remove. Easter Road traffic-light filters will be adjusted.

Pedestrians will be able to pass via a short-term covered walkway. Cyclists will have to dismount over a 25–30m stretch.

Had a walk down Leith Street and was curious why the footway and carriageway are able to be used but the cycleway can’t? They were all modified in the redetermination order.

Speaking of the RSO, reporter has decided a hearing won’t be necessary: https://www.dpea.scotland.gov.uk/CaseDetails.aspx?ID=119990

Pure spite on the part of the developers, given that objections mean it is not yet "redetermined" as a cycle path.

Of course, thanks. Got to love how stuff like this gets built immediately but we need to wait for lengthy DPEA processes on proper cycle routes.
