Off road riding in Holyrood Park - it could go viral!
(Driving commercial vehicles through the park certainly has.)Instructive video showing that with the right bike you can go anywhere without worrying about traffic ;-)
Shades of 'Arnie' by using bus lane wrong way on South Bridge. Only marginally more dangerous than going same direction as traffic.\\
Certainly some amazing riding - but few interactions with vehicles and the massive tour groups which are what we endure in the 'real' Edinburgh. A taxi can be seen tailing them in one part.
No other bikes appear anywhere afaik.Posted 7 years ago # -
It does inspire sarcastic thoughts. Where are the mass of tourists in those areas which normally stop doing your messages, let alone acrobatics? They must have been up at 5am to do the shoot.
Can we commission Danny Macaskill to do a ride up Leith Walk say, jumping over parked cars in the cycle lane? Dancing on one wheel around the potholes? Weaving around the smart-phoners? Urban gymnastics aren't a choice for us cycling commuters, it's a way of life.

The young ladies were quicker than the gentlemen. Did they have our long-promised promised jetpacks?

Oh, so you are allow to take bikes on the Castle Esplanade...
... but only is accompanied by a film crew!
I tried taking my bike up there to visit the Castle gift shop (I am an Historic Scotland member), only to be told that bicycle were allow as they were a security risk. I was even told that the IRA used to put Semtex in bike frame in Belfast in the 1980's, which is a blatant lie.

used to put Semtex in bike frame in Belfast
But of course they never had the wit to do the same to a car...

Not sure that I would have wanted to be the cameraperson towards the bottom of Anchor Close filming the cyclists heading down toward them, although given the bike skills evident, I suppose that the cyclists would probably have jumped over the cameraperson if it became apparent that they weren't going to be able to come to a halt in time.

@Kim
Putting bombs in bicycle frames is a British army technique recounted in great detail in Spencer Chapman's The Jungle is Neutral.

The IRA have used bikes for and as bombs on several occasions through time, both in the North and on the mainland.
That in Coventry killed four, the shrapnel carrying a couple of miles.

I don't need much of an an excuse to link to This Bike is a Pipe Bomb:

With multiple takes and a very circuitous route the women were always going to beat the men.

Just me that's going to girn about them labelling the Crags "Arthur's Seat"?

@frenchy bit of dramatic licence. But your girn is valid, it did occur to me when I watched this on Facebook last week.
As well as weeds that the Tory councillor described as a living hell, Balerno also has a lad who is a parkour champion.
